Term 3 has been lots of fun in Year 2 so far!
We are having a great time learning about persuasive texts. This week we are trying to convince someone that dogs are the best pet. We need to use strong, high modality language when trying to persuade someone of our point of view. Have a listen to some of our great work!
Who knew learning about ‘Area’ in maths could be so much fun! Year 2 are learning how to estimate, measure and record areas in square units. We have been working in groups on mini projects all about Area. We had to find who has feet with the largest area in Year 2. We were surprised that some children’s feet in Year 2 even have a larger area than the teachers. We also worked on creating creatures with a certain area for each part of their body. Here are some pictures and a video of all the fun we have had in Maths.

πΏπΎ Year 1 Living Things Project πΎπΏ Year 1 have been learning all about living things and what they need to survive. Working alongside their wonderful Year 6 buddies, students designed and built a habitat for a living thing of their choice. Their habitats needed to include the essential elements for survival: shelter, food, air, and water. It was fantastic to see our students using their creativity, teamwork, and scientific understanding to bring their ideas to life. A big congratulations to Year 1 for their thoughtful designs and to our Year 6 buddies for their support and encouragement throughout the project. π Year 2 Showcase π Thank you to all the families who joined us for our Year 2 Showcase. We were so excited to share a snapshot of our learning this term. Our prayer songs have been at the heart of our daily classroom life, helping us to pray, show kindness, and remember that God is always with us. The students loved performing three of their favourites: Tickery Tock, God United, and My Lighthouse. We also shared our History learning, where we explored how communication has changed over time from the past to the many ways we connect today, including phones, emails, and video calls. Families also enjoyed viewing our creative clay sculptures, where students had the freedom to design and create their own unique artworks. As part of our Religion and Sustainability learning, the Year 2 students created a picture of their ideal world. They imagined what the Earth would look like if everyone cared for God's creation by looking after the environment, helping others, and making responsible choices. Through their artwork, the students shared their hopes for a cleaner, kinder, and more sustainable world for future generations.
