Term 3 has been lots of fun in Year 2 so far!
We are having a great time learning about persuasive texts. This week we are trying to convince someone that dogs are the best pet. We need to use strong, high modality language when trying to persuade someone of our point of view. Have a listen to some of our great work!
Who knew learning about ‘Area’ in maths could be so much fun! Year 2 are learning how to estimate, measure and record areas in square units. We have been working in groups on mini projects all about Area. We had to find who has feet with the largest area in Year 2. We were surprised that some children’s feet in Year 2 even have a larger area than the teachers. We also worked on creating creatures with a certain area for each part of their body. Here are some pictures and a video of all the fun we have had in Maths.

π Year 2 Exploring Science and Technology! π Year 2 students have been learning in Science about how society works to protect our wildlife and natural resources. As part of this learning, they discovered how drones are used by scientists and conservationists to monitor environments and help protect endangered and protected species. The excitement grew when students had the chance to watch a live drone demonstration, seeing firsthand how this technology can capture aerial views and help monitor landscapes and wildlife. βπ Year 1 Hands-On Maths πβ Year 1 have been getting hands-on in Maths through fun and engaging activities! Students built friends of 10 towers using blocks, helping them develop a strong understanding of number combinations. They also explored measurement by using paddle pop sticks to measure the length of their hops β bringing Maths to life through movement and play! π𧑠Harmony Day at Christ the King Primary π§‘π On Wednesday 18 March, Christ the King Primary School will celebrate Harmony Week. πβ¨ Year 5 Maths β 3D Shapes & Nets β¨π Year 5 have been exploring 3D shapes and their nets through a hands-on Maths challenge! Students were tasked with drawing nets of common 3D shapes and then constructing them to test if their designs worked. This required careful attention to detail, ensuring edges and angles were even and accurate. It was fantastic to see students thinking critically, problem-solving and learning through trial and improvement! π
