On Monday 2 May 2016 the Rotary Club, North Rocks held their annual Mother’s Day awards to celebrate local mums in the community.
As part of the celebration, Year 5 students from Christ the King Primary, North Rocks and North Rocks Public School were invited to participate in a writing competition entitled “My Mother, My Friend”.
A panel narrowed the submissions down to six students who were then invited, along with their families, to attend a special Rotary Club celebration at the Baulkham Hills Sports Club.
Event organiser Monika Tracey said the annual Mother’s Day awards offered students an opportunity to engage in their writing skills whilst celebrating their mums.
‘Each child read their story or poem to their mum, who was then presented with flowers, chocolates and a bottle of champagne, while the child was presented with a certificate,’ Monika said. ‘Dads and siblings joined us to make this an excellent night.’

🎶🙏 Year 5 Student at Lifted Live 🙏🎶 Some of our Year 5 students recently took part in Lifted Live, hosted by Catholic Youth Parramatta and the CSPD. The day focused on Pentecost and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, encouraging young people to reflect on how they can use their God-given gifts to serve others and live out their faith each day. 🌊⚓ Year 4 – Bound for Botany Bay ⚓🌊 Our Year 4 students were Bound for Botany Bay as they explored the rich history of the La Perouse Headland! Through hands-on activities and role-playing, students discovered the stories of convicts, early explorers, monuments and trade in Australia’s early history.
