On Monday 2 May 2016 the Rotary Club, North Rocks held their annual Mother’s Day awards to celebrate local mums in the community.
As part of the celebration, Year 5 students from Christ the King Primary, North Rocks and North Rocks Public School were invited to participate in a writing competition entitled “My Mother, My Friend”.
A panel narrowed the submissions down to six students who were then invited, along with their families, to attend a special Rotary Club celebration at the Baulkham Hills Sports Club.
Event organiser Monika Tracey said the annual Mother’s Day awards offered students an opportunity to engage in their writing skills whilst celebrating their mums.
‘Each child read their story or poem to their mum, who was then presented with flowers, chocolates and a bottle of champagne, while the child was presented with a certificate,’ Monika said. ‘Dads and siblings joined us to make this an excellent night.’

Celebrating 40 years of Voice of Youth and the power of student voice

🏕️🌿 Year 5 & 6 Blue Mountains Camp 🌿🏕️ What an incredible adventure our Year 5 and 6 students had at camp in the beautiful Blue Mountains! From exciting outdoor challenges to team-building activities, students embraced every opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, build resilience and create lasting memories with their friends. Throughout the camp, students demonstrated courage, perseverance and teamwork as they encouraged one another to try new experiences. Whether they were conquering challenges, exploring the stunning natural environment or sharing laughs around camp, they showed our school values every step of the way. A huge thank you to our dedicated staff for their care and support, and to our students for representing Christ the King so wonderfully. Laudato Sì Photo Competition🌾 Christ the King Primary celebrated the creativity, talent and enthusiasm of our students and staff who participated in our Laudato Si' Competition. Inspired by Pope Francis' call to care for our common home, our winners took photos of something Australian from nature. As a prize they planted native seeds in egg cartons.
